Chipotle Mexican Grill’s Disclosure under the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010

Through our ongoing commitment to finding better, more sustainable sources for all of the ingredients we serve, Chipotle is changing the way people think about and eat fast food. We call this effort "Food with Integrity" and it has us working with suppliers who share our commitment to raising food in ways that demonstrate respect for people, the environment and farm animals. We have always maintained a belief in being transparent about our supply chain practices. With regard to specific requirements of the California Transparency in Supply Chain Act of 2010, our practices include:

VERIFICATION

We periodically assess our supply chain with respect to multiple factors, including evaluations related to, among other things, risks of human trafficking and slavery. Portions of these assessments may be conducted by third parties and portions may be conducted by our internal supply chain team.

AUDITING

We routinely visit our suppliers’ facilities, and foreign produce suppliers are vetted by their respective importers and/or our produce procurement partner.

Suppliers of Chipotle are subject to inspections – announced and unannounced, by Chipotle as well as third parties –to ensure compliance with our supplier standards. Our supplier standards require compliance with applicable laws and prohibit forced labor, child labor, violation of applicable standards for working hours and conditions, and other subjects related to human trafficking and slavery.

CERTIFICATION

Chipotle’s supplier standards require compliance with applicable laws and prohibit forced labor, child labor, violation of applicable standards for working hours and conditions, and other subjects related to human trafficking and slavery. All of Chipotle’s food suppliers must certify their compliance with the terms of the applicable supplier standards on an annual basis.

The requirement that Chipotle’s food suppliers certify their compliance with the applicable supplier standards is subject to audit by Chipotle’s Internal Audit team.

INTERNAL ACCOUNTABILITY

For Chipotle’s purchasing agents, our supplier standards serve as a training tool with respect to forced labor, child labor, working hours and conditions, and other subjects related to human trafficking and slavery. These areas receive the continued attention of our supply chain management personnel.
